Let me introduce our Grandmaster guests.
Firstly, our top seed, GM Timur Gareyev is no stranger to Singapore, having made his way over for a blindfold simul match against Singapore Chess Federation’s HPE squad members.

Timur had sent this cracker of a Schliemann Gambit against Indonesian IM Ali Muhammed  Lutfi after the game when IM Kevin Goh informed him of the Schliemann book  I (Junior Tay)  have just written recently.

Gareyev went on to win the event with an unbeaten 8.5/11 and a TPR of 2685, netting himself US$2000.
